This is the million-dollar question…

I think if more ladies could master the art of the curl, there would be less and less curly girlies going straight.

Me I’m a curly girly through and through, I just hate to go straight it simply doesn’t suit me.

Curls are so romantic! They have the power to soften your most prominent features with a playful disposition that for me personality go hand in hand with my profile as a hair salon owner.

I am speaking from a creative field however I hear in the corporate world curls are a totally different story.

I can’t even imagine having to straighten my locks so men take me more seriously in a male dominated environment (of course this is just what my corporate clients tell me, I am not speaking directly from experience) Time after time clients visit my salon to have their hair blow-dried straight in preparation for that important meeting. These women feel that curls are messy and not as professional (insert sad face emoji)

In my salon IT”S ALL ABOUT THE CURLS! And as more curly girlies flock to my salon wanting that premium care on their luscious locks, equally important to this is how to achieve that soft and gorgeous curl at home, you know the one that screams modern and sexy 😉

Curls are confidence! And for those of you brave enough to wear them, I have attached a tutorial from my youtube channel featuring me getting my curl on 🙂

And this is how we do it…

Step 1… I use a combination of Aveda products

1) Dry remedy oil (this is pure moisture in a bottle)

2) Be Curly curl enhancing lotion (this is to enhance my curl and improve my hairs natural elasticity)

And the final step is confixor (this is a gel YES A GEL) we are going right back to the 1040’s here…

Back then it was all about setting!

You will see in the beginning of my video that my hair looks kind of hard and stiff, that’s because it is. It is well saturated with product then air-dried with a diffuser to make my hair set quite firm

Then AND ONLY WHEN the hair is bone-dry do you brush.

(Failing to wait for this can have catastrophic effects)

Don’t risk it!

For optimum results I like to wait an hour in between just to be sure ALL the moisture is out.

Take a hair-up brush (or anything with beautiful soft bristles) and away you GO…

Last but not least good luck!

Well it’s no secret that Olaplex has been a game changer!

Every other brand has tried to copy it, and I mean every.

On the market today we have…

Cureplex – By Highlift

Wellaplex – By Wella

Blonde-pro – By Loreal

Brazilian bond builder – By BBB

Fibreplex – By Schwarzkopt

Bondpro – By Goldwell

Just to name a few!

Now if you research Olaplex replica products on-line you will read that all companies claim to have a similar product offering all the same features and benefits with their own unique point of difference.

So why are they all doing it?

Because Olaplex is the BOMB!

I like to think of it as my insurance policy when it comes to hair colouring.

With the new wave of colour transformations in high demand and balayage at its peak, Olaplex means everyone can now go blonde!

Olaplex makes it possible to now push the boundaries and get you that blonde pastel tone colour in just ONE sitting.

Genius? I think so 🙂

Olaplex Treatment

Every trend has its saturation point. In the world of hair there have been many trends that have progressed from runway to mainstream reality, but nothing was more relevant than the nonchalant look of zero effort hair.

Show after show we are served up a display of models that reflect a look of these effortless locks and natural textures.

Modern and cool these looks had an appearance of having done little to no work at all. (even if that wasn’t the case)

It was only a matter of time till we saw the demand return for the blowdry!

The bed head movement has changed its course.

Healthy blowdryed hair that is well kept and shines is the NOW.

Like our skin we want to have a healthy glow in our hair

We now have a glossy bordering on blowout finish to our clients service that is back in high demand.

The look of this seasons hair is still not overly contrived, It’s a look that has volume and movement, the sheen on the hair gives off an appearance that the hair is well looked after.

The blowdry is your newest accessory!

  • Remember that when your hair is wet the cuticle is open (this is when your hair is the most fragile) Comb thru gently and no vigorous rubbing when drying with the towel.
  • When blowdrying your hair, blast and stretch out the roots of the hair, be extra gentle when blowdrying the ends. This technique is paramount to avoiding damage to the ends of the hair, The oldest parts of the hair are the most sensitive.
  • Product is used to support the blowdry and to help it hold, don’t use anything sticky or stiffening

The Salon by Kerri Gravina

New home for hair and make-up creations in the city

Discover the intimate and relaxing atmosphere of Kerri Gravina Salon!

A new creative space has launched in one of Melbourne’s oldest landmarks. The iconic Manchester Unity building on Collins Street, renown as the city’s first skyscraper, now home to the latest creative venture of leading Melbourne hair stylist Kerri Gravina.

Kerri Gravina is sought after for her signature hair styling for fashion shoots, weddings, special events and private clientele. She now brings together her collaboration with top Melbourne make-up artists and photographers into a private salon.

“I have enjoyed collaborations with some of Melbourne’s best make-up artists and photographers, but what we needed was a creative space where we could all work together and apply our craft in a more integrated and seamless way,” said Kerri

“The space in the Manchester Unity building is ideal – it is easily accessible for our clients being in the heart of the city, yet it is locked away in a world that feels like stepping into another era where things were slower, more deliberate, more personal and more handcrafted. It’s a place to pause, to think and to be deeply immersed in what you are doing.”

“The setting is important and influences our work – it’s a special place, full of history, art-deco charm and imbues our work with a strong sense of place. Our work just looks very Melbourne.”

The Salon combines an intimate hair and make-up studio with a fully equipped photographic set.

“We are experimenting with how we use the space. We are a hair salon that works well for personal consultation, fashion and bridal shoots, corporate headshots, and photographic portfolios. It can also be used by groups, as a gallery space, for events and can be booked by other creative professionals wanting to use the space,” said Kerri

”Our salon is ideal for small groups of friends wanting to come in together and experience our luxury packages after a big day in the office or one of our exciting new hens night private parties”
